Travel and Tourism

The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the travel and tourism industry are still being felt across the globe. While the industry is recovering and adjusting to the new norms following the pandemic, players in the industry are focusing on digitisation, sustainability and innovation.

Our Experience in the Travel and Tourism Industry

Our team has provided dedicated support to major corporate clients within the leisure travel industry for many years. This has included acting for global tour operator as the legal lead on several major IT transactions across all source markets, running large-scale client due diligence projects, and providing ongoing managed services by acting as an extension of the in-house legal team in the UK. The types of commercial transactions we’ve supported cover both the retail and online elements of businesses and have involved the procurement of IT, facilities management, hotel inventory, marketing and design, and financial services (including travel insurance).

We’ve also acted as the legal lead for a major corporate client in a strategic alliance to enable digital access to the market and to create distribution channels for travel inventory from strategic partners, including flights, hotels, car hire, and other travel services. We’ve advised extensively on navigating the complex regulatory and compliance regimes for the travel industry, including the Package Travel Directive and GDPR, as well as advising on the nuances of booking journeys through online platforms and customer T&Cs.
